Styrofoam houses from The News Room

With the launch of The News Room, I can now get paid to embed news stories, including video, into this blog. So, the first thing I looked for was a story related to Japan. On my first search I found this fascinating video about “styrofoam homes of the future”. It seems that a Japanese company in Fukushima is building dome-shaped vacation homes. Apparently they’re among the most energy efficient houses in the world! They may look like igloos, but if you watch the video, you’ll see how modern they are inside.

The News Room has hundreds of thousands of videos and stories to choose from, and bloggers can put them into their own sites. Embedding one of the videos into a blog is free and easy, in fact it took me just a minute to cut and paste the necessary code.

You won’t just find bizarre tales of styrofoam houses, though. There was another story about Burger King’s failure to break into the Japanese fast-food market, but six years on and flame-grilled burgers are back and trying to win public opinion again. The topic of fast-food in Japan is one I could talk about all day, so I’ll save it for another day.

If you have your own blog, you should take a look at The News Room because not only do they have current news videos and stories on almost any topic, but you can get paid for having that content on your site. It’s free to sign up, so there’s nothing to lose. You even get entered into a contest to win a digital camera or even a car! If Kazuko Hosoki’s prediction that this is my luckiest year is true, then that car is already mine!
