It’s been a while since my wife and I got a decent picture of our baby boy from the maternity clinic, but now we finally have one that doesn’t look like a cloudy bowl of miso soup.
In my post “Making the Baby Bed“, I talked about how pregnancy in Japan lasts 10 months, so although Mami is nine months pregnant, she’s actually only in week 33, with another six or seven weeks to go.
Let’s go back in time to when Mami was nine weeks pregnant. Rikuto was the cutest kid at the clinic, wearing what looked like a Lego helmet…
Now, at nine months, you can see how much he has grown. He looks a little camera shy, covering his face with his arm, but other than that, he’s apparently healthy and progressing well…
It actually looks as if he’s crying, but since his mum didn’t get much sleep last night, he’s more likely to be yawning…. “Someone turn off that light! I’m trying to get some sleep here!”
Riku is due on July 31st, and that’s not long now at all! I can’t wait!
If you like, you can find me on Twitter at @nick_ramsay. I'd love to hear from you!
What an exciting time it must be.
I look forward to the same in the coming years as my gf and I tie the knot in Nagoya and start a family 🙂
Ah Jason! Thanks for coming over to my blog. Let me know when you get to Nagoya. I’ll shout you a Starbucks.
Such a special time isn’t it?
Nothing compares to holding your own child for the first time and having it gaze back at you. It’s pure magic!
My kids are teenagers now but I can still remember those times so clearly.
You can kind of prepare for the fact you’ll have broken sleep etc but you’re never prepared for the totally overwhelming love you feel for your children. You’ll know what I mean in the coming weeks!
I’m sure you’ll spend many hours just watching him sleep! (or was that just me???)
All the best to you both 🙂
